Free library event

Ever a sucker for public speaking, I'm hosting another free library show and tell event, this time focusing on photobooks in our library collections on Friday 6th Mat 2016.

I'll be curating a display of current photobooks in our collections around themes of landscapes; portraits and identities; Japanese photobooks; conflict, propaganda and protest; and zines and artists' books.

I'm particularly interested in the cross over between photobooks and zines, and I'll be looking at examples of self-published photozines in our collections as well as having guest speaker Marc Vallée giving a talk on his own photozines in our collections.

As with most library events I've tried to include as much queer material as possible, and the role of LGBT photobooks and portraits is something that is often omitted from the conversation on photobooks.

It's free to attend but you need to book a place which you can do here

  1. Gratitude for sharing this interesting post regarding free library event! The event sounds great and would definitely try to attend this event tomorrow. I remember attending a similar event at an event space NYC and it was a good experience too.
