Peckham Zine Club

I'll be speaking as part of Peckham Zine Club's speaker series in May with Leila to talk about UK zine libraries, the importance of zine collections, and challenges such as cataloguing, budget, and staffing. I'll be speaking both as a zinester and also as a librarian and will be bringing along some visual examples and chatting on about my main love in life after Bruce Springsteen.

Last month I co-created the UK Zine Librarians group with Leila as a space to share resources and provide support across the field. The resources that already exist for zine librarians felt very much North American focused, and there felt to be a lack of communication between all those working within the field regardless of professional status.

There are so many different types of zine libraries with varying remits, limitations, and staffing, but hopefully UK Zine Libraries group can be a place to get some support and share information and I'd love to see the group grow and maybe in the future organise some meet-ups, seminars, collaborative zines. Zine Librarians assemble!

May Zine Fests

It's zine fest season a-go-go with so many zine fests coming up next month. Here's some of the zine fairs I'll be tabling at next month. If you bring me irn bru you get free zines.

Alternative Press Takeover is a collaboration between Alternative Press and London Radical Bookfair and will take place Saturday 9th May 12pm - 7pm at 47/49 Tanner Street. There will be books, comics, and magazines there, although I'm hoping some diy zines too so me and my shoddy zines don't feel too out of place.

DIY Cultures takes place Saturday 24th at Rich Mix, London. Based on previous years it's gonna be HEAVING. There are good panel talks and workshops, and a mix of zinesters from the diy to more arty stuff. Free entry from 12-7pm. Rich MIx is a brilliant venue and please sign the petition to try and keep it open

NW Zine Fest takes place Saturday 30th May at Star & Garter, Manchester. There will be super ace zinesters and workshops and I'm hopefully debuting a new zine with Seleena Daye!

Panda Pop

If you missed our first gig last week with Tuff Love and Sacred Paws, then you can see us tonight playing with some dead ace bands. We sing pop songs about being poor and irn bru and chub rub.
